About Releases:
Know your facility's procedure on privacy and photographs. Many places allow photos as long
as the patients/residents give permission. Others don't allow photos at all. Some individual
patients may have signed a document saying they want no pictures or publicity in any form. If
you are lucky, you might get a patient who will sign a release for you to use the photo
personally in an album or on the Internet, or in a video. Be sure to check your national group
(TDI, TDInc, Pet Partners) for their policies and procedures in addition to the facility's
procedure.
What Should A Release Include:
(1) Name of Publication/ or method of distribution
(2) Date to be published and length of time
(3) Purpose/Reason: Hopefully in this case, it's for the promotion of AAT/AAA
(4) Name of person in photo
(5) Signature of that individual if over 18; or signature of guardian
Additional items you may want to consider adding:
(6) Witness of legal age
(7) If photo is to be used on the Internet, you will want to convey that any
material put out on the Internet has a limited protection from being copied by anyone
viewing the material.
