All the individuals that brainstormed on the  idea of  Minnesota Therapy Animals are honored to
have Kris Butler write the opening introduction for this resource.   The web site is a dream finally
realized.

Kris Butler is a nationally recognized trainer, instructor, author and authority on animal-
enhanced programs. Since 1979, her professional vision has focused on working with dogs to
improve the quality of people's lives. She's developed goal-directed programs for therapists and
with her own dogs in therapeutic and educational environments.
Volunteers and their therapy animals are my heroes.  Throughout the United States, and
drive to community settings in which they visit.  Handlers do the preparatory work,
knowing their animals will get the credit.  Teachers, counselors, and therapists
sometimes work with their own animals, but more often they depend on some of the
thousand of dependable volunteers who show up with their pets to offer their special
brands of healing or education.

No one should accept the premise that working to enhance human healing, learning, or
quality of life is for a select few.  There are more opportunities to respond than most
people imagine.  The challenge for most people is finding the support they need to get
started.  For people in Minnesota, your search will end right here -- although your journey
has just begun.

MNTherapyAnimals.com is a much need, valuable resource - one that I hope will inspire
similar projects in other states as well.

Finally SUMMER!    Dogs and humans are out and about enjoying this great Minnesota
weather.  Volunteer activities however, continue.  Small changes have occurred on the site.
Old features are being achieved, and new ones are appearing.  Be sure to check out News
and Tidbit page.

If you are looking for something of special interest, try using the "Search" feature on this
page below.  A keyword or two should pinpoint what you are seeking.
The new page "Infection Control" is under construction and is
being turned over to an individual that has a strong knowledge
base in this area.   Keeping the individuals that we encounter
safe with our volunteer activities, as well as our partners is
paramount.  Interested in taking a peek?
